A little more about me.

I guess since this is one of my first posts I should talk a little about myself. I am a 22 year old male who is a rising senior at James Madison University majoring in the Integrated Science and Technology Program (ISAT). I am 6'3, which makes me the tallest in my family and among the tallest of my friends. But then again I have always been tall, its just been one of those things. While not particularly an animal person, I have a soft spot for dogs, since I have always had one. My favorite foods are pizza and steak, making me the "meat and potatoes" cliche. I love movies and have developed a greater appreciation of what they are capable of through one of my close friends. Some of my favorites include Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, the original Halloween, 2001: a space odyssey, the original Star Wars trilogy, and the Dark Knight. I have always loved science and technology, some of the passion for this came through my early start as a gamer, playing video games from about five when the original gameboy came out. I believe this gave me an appreciation for technology and made me curious about how it and other things worked. I used to be an avid reader before most of my reading time got taken up for college. Some of my favorites include 1984, Brave New World, Sun Tsu's art of war, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Other than gaming my hobbies include playing chess, tennis, and computers. While I have never built a computer, I just recently bought a new one and am installing new hardware and software as needed for better performance. Something others have said to me before is I love to learn, any day I can learn something else useful or interesting is never a wasted day. Other than Science and technology, I am a bit of a history buff for fun, just because its so interesting. Something almost just as interesting to me in some cases is the history of science, just learning about how we progressed from fire to petabites of digital storage is so... inspiring. A cause I am interested in is, as you might imagine, increasing interest in science into the next generation. We used to be the greatest nation in science in the world and a few years ago we refused to participate in the study comparing our country's science education to the rest of the developed world. How crazy is that?
See you around the blogosphere,
Ryan Luckay
